International Tornado Class

Below are a variety of photos taken during the 2002 season of some of the ideas being used on the new rig. By the end of 2002 (World Championship in the USA) 95% of the fleet was using a pole-mounted spinnaker tube. The bottom row of photos are of the 4 types of tube in use then by virtually all of the fleet, along with email contact addresses for them. Click on any photo for a larger, 640x480 jpg of each. All photos are by Jim Young, and may be freely copied and used.

This tube is based on a carbon mouth and a mylar sailcloth tube. The carbon mouth fits over a standard spinnaker pole. It is made in the USA by Lars Guck, email to lars@guckinc.com This tube is from Graham Eeles in GBR. Like the Guck tube, it fits over a standard pole. It has a carbon mouth, and a light but rigid carbon / kevlar tube. grahamj@geeles.fsnet.co.uk
